The Grading System


Graduate (MS/MPhil/MBA 1.5)

  • The minimum passing marks for each course shall be 60%. Students obtaining less than 60% marks in any course shall be considered to have failed in that course
  • The correspondence between letter grades, credit points, and percentage marks shall be as follows

Assignment of Scholastic Status

Each student is assigned a two-letter abbreviated status on the transcript according to the scholastic achievements during the semester. Each status reflects the changes in the academic achievements and has been individually explained below:

Note : Scholastic Status will be assigned on following criteria:

Till FA13 students

Good Standing (GS): CGPA/GPA 2.50/4.00 shall be required at the end of semeter to attain Good Standing (GS) status.

Probation (PB): If a student gets Grade F in any subject, he/she shall be placed in Probation (PB). The student will be required to clear the PB at the earliest oppourtunity. If a studend gets PB twice in the same subject, he/she shall not be allowed to continue as graduate student.

FA13 onward

According to two C plicy: see two c policy notification

If a graduate student (MS and Phd) accumulates two C or lower grades in any semester other than the first semester, he/she will be given one chance to improve grades. there would not be a second chance for improvement; howerver, if the student obtains two c or lower grades in first semester, his/her admission shall stand cancelled.
